AfrOstrava Festival is a two-day multicultural event that celebrates African culture in dialogue with European and global influences. The festival brings together music, dance, fashion, art, food, workshops, panel discussions, and community activities, creating a space for cultural exchange, learning, and connection.

AfrOstrava Festival 2027 will take place on August 13 - 14, 2027 at Dolní oblast Vítkovice (DOV), Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The festival is organized by the AfrOstrava team in collaboration with Ostrava Expat Centre and a broad network of cultural, creative, and institutional partners from within Czechia and abroad.

Yes. AfrOstrava Festival is designed for all age groups. The program includes performances, workshops, and spaces suitable for children, youth, adults, and seniors.

Yes. Tickets are currently on sale.

Tickets are primarily available online through the official AfrOstrava Festival ticketing platform. Tickets can also be purchased at the entrance on the festival day if the event is not sold out. Please note that ticket prices will increase as the festival date approaches.

Yes. Buying tickets in advance guarantees entry, reduces waiting time at the entrance, and helps avoid sell-outs during peak hours.

You can present your ticket either digitally on your phone or as a printed copy. Each ticket contains a unique QR code that will be scanned at the entrance.

Tickets are non-refundable. Transfer to another person is allowed as long as the ticket has not yet been scanned.

The festival program includes live concerts, DJ sets, dance performances, fashion presentations, art exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, a multicultural market, and a food zone featuring African and international cuisine.

Yes. Workshops and panel discussions are part of the program. Some sessions have limited capacity, so we recommend arriving early.

Yes. AfrOstrava Festival welcomes partnerships and sponsorships from companies, institutions, and organizations aligned with culture, creativity, community, and social impact.

Yes. The venue is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, including step-free access to main areas and accessible restroom facilities.

Yes. Children are welcome at the festival. Family-friendly zones and activities will be available throughout the event.

Bring comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor conditions, a fully charged phone, and any personal essentials you may need for a full day at the festival.

Yes. AfrOstrava Festival is a fully cashless event. Payments inside the venue can only be made by card, smartphone, or smartwatch. Cash payments are not accepted.

Yes. Re-entry is allowed on the same day. Visitors will receive a wristband upon first entry, which must be worn at all times.

A lost-and-found point will be located near the main entrance. All found items will be collected there during the festival.

Yes. Volunteers support visitor guidance, logistics, backstage coordination, and program assistance. Volunteer roles are unpaid but come with some benefits.

Yes, personal photography and video recording are allowed. Professional or commercial recording requires prior accreditation from the festival organizers.

The food zone offers a wide selection of African dishes alongside international cuisine, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Yes. Alcoholic beverages will be available. Alcohol is sold only to visitors aged 18 and above, in accordance with Czech law.

Visitors are encouraged to stay in central Ostrava areas such as Moravská Ostrava or Slezská Ostrava. Recommended options include hotels, hostels, and short-term apartments within easy reach of public transport.

The venue is easily accessible by public transport, including tram and bus lines. Festival attendees can take tram lines 1 or 2 from Ostrava Main Station, or from stops along the route, and get off at the Dolní Vítkovice stop. For those arriving by car, simply search for “Dolní Vítkovice (DOV)” on your map and it will guide you to the festival area. Limited parking is available nearby.

Professional security staff and trained first-aid personnel are present on-site throughout the festival.

Emergency exits, first-aid points, and security contacts are clearly marked on-site. Festival staff are trained to assist visitors and coordinate emergency responses.

Pets are not allowed inside the festival grounds, with the exception of registered assistance dogs.

Weapons, illegal substances, fireworks, glass containers, and dangerous objects are strictly prohibited. Bags may be checked at the entrance.
